Ever wonder how many Internet searches are done for some of your favorite brands, teams, or foods? Well, we did too. So we did some keyword research and created this infographic to show some of the results.

The infographic shows some of the highest volume search terms in a pictograph which clearly shows that Facebook gets about five times as many searches as the next highest term shown, Yahoo. We don't have a definitive answer as to why there are so many searches for the term Facebook in the Google data set, but our theory is that many people have Google set as their browser home page and that instead of typing Facebook into the URL field in the browser they just type it into the Google search box instead.

In addition to the high volume search terms, the infographic also shows the number of searches in a variety of topical categories.

We plan to update this search volume infographic with updated formatting and updated data as time allows and as users make requests.

One of the search engine optimization services provided by Authority Cafe is Keyword Research. Let us help you identify the keyword searches that would be most helpful to your business, develop a strategy to target those keywords and then implement that strategy to get you more targeted leads and sales.

If you're looking for Atlanta SEO results, check out these SEO results for one of Authority Cafe's clients. Authority Cafe began working with this Atlanta area client in late 2009/early 2010. SEO efforts have concentrated primarily on site structure and content. For a variety of reasons, no serious link-building campaigns have been initiated.

The following chart shows the increase in overall search traffic to the site as well as the types of searches. Using data from the AWStats module within the site cPanel, the keyword phrases used to find the site in search engines were examined. The data for each month from January 2010 through October 2011 were loaded into a spreadsheet. Each keyword search phrase was then manually classified into one of three types of searches:

1. Location Searches

2. Name Searches

3. Product Searches

The three types of searches were defined as follows:

1. Location Searches = searches that include some combination of product or business type search and a location, such as a city name like Atlanta or a ZIP code but not the business name. These searches indicate that someone is not searching specifically for the business, is looking for products or services offered by the business, and is limiting the search based on location. The location portion is considered significant because it limits the amount of competition returned in the search engine.

2. Name Searches = searches that include the business name, or some variation or misspelling of the business name. These searches were considered a separate category because they indicate that the searcher knew the business for which they were searching and therefore were almost certainly already familiar with the business and therefore less impacted by SEO results.

3. Product Searches = searches for products (or in some cases services) offered by the business that did not also include the business name or a location. These searches are considered to be the most highly influenced by the SEO efforts because these searches are for more general searches not focused on the business or the location and are therefore likely a net gain in new traffic and ultimately new business.

It can be seen in the SEO results chart above that not only have the overall number of searches resulting in a visit to the website increased, but that the increase is driven by general Product Searches, not other marketing efforts that might be increasing searches directly for the business or larger increase in the number of local searches for which there might be limited competition.

It should be noted that the business has a somewhat seasonal pattern, thus the spikes in May and October. This also means that the best comparisons are those made during the same month from one year to the next.

Authority Cafe is very proud of these SEO results and would appreciate an opportunity to assist you with your search engine optimization efforts. Authority Cafe is an Atlanta SEO Company specializing in market research, keyword research and web design.
